The Incredible Cece by Celeste M. Cooper & directed by Penelope Walker

The Incredible Cece is a dark comedy about my personal desire to Save the World. I am repeatedly saddened by news broadcast, which created a passion to perform “Big” or “Small” Loving Actions to help bring positive change.  It’s so easy to stay comfortable in a world full of chaos, if your personal life isn’t affected. However, life is unpredictable & a sad news broadcast can happen to all of us. My show is about answering the call from the powers that be, however all superheroes have flaws, trials, & tribulations that can bring them to their doom. I invite you to tune into episode 1 as I tell my heightened testimony through multiple characters using marvel/ comic book themes, music, voiceover, movement, & imagination.

This Episode was inspired and dedicated to the late Jessica Luellen & Julia Neary. Rest in Peace Superheroes.

Fight 4 Your Life by Celeste M. Cooper & directed by Marie Cisco

Fight 4 Your Life is about my desire to be loved by someone that ultimately hurts me. Many people allow the idea of love, family, and security to dominate over what it truly means to be loved and to love yourself. This is a brief look at my family using movement, story, improvisation, imagination, television, and commercial breaks. Family makes a huge impact on who we are today. Growing up fearful, imprisoned, and controlled has manifested itself in different forms throughout my life. Every day is a battle to break through my chains, because the only person hurting me now is myself...

A 15-minute version of Fight 4 Your Life was first developed in my Solo Performance class at The Theatre School under the guidance of Professor Carlos Murillo in 2012. Later that year, I expanded it into a 60-minute solo show, which premiered at MPAACT Theatre. What began as a one-night-only performance quickly grew into a limited run. I was also invited to perform Fight 4 Your Life at Phoenix Military Academy.

I wrote The Incredible Cece to encourage others that they, too, can create a solo show from scratch. I knew several people who were interested but felt apprehensive about the process. To support them, I started a small solo performance group. We met weekly to develop our new pieces, test out material, and eventually help one another produce our shows. In 2015, I performed The Incredible Cece at MPAACT and later Stage 773.
